This position is part of the Supplier Engineering and Technology (SET) organization.  SET is an organization that is innovative in manufacturing technology, materials and supply chain design. 

In this position, you, as a supplier engineer for play a vital role with Quartz/Si suppliers.  You will have the opportunity to work across organization functions to resolve technical, quality and production challenges, as well as opportunity to develop excellence in product design and manufacturing at Quartz/Si supply chain.

The Impact You¡¯ll Make

Designs, implements and maintains quality assurance protocols and methods for processing materials into partially finished or finished products. Responsible for planning, implementing and managing compliance of manufacturing and production processes with internal and external safety, quality and regulatory standards requirements for worldwide distribution. Designs methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of production processes, production equipment and finished products. Performs analysis of reports and production data to identify trends and recommend updates or changes to quality standards and procedures when necessary. May assure compliance to in-house and/or external specifications and standards (i.e. GLP, GMP, ISO, Six Sigma).

What You¡¯ll Do

  • Work with Lam Product Group Engineering organizations in development and release of new Quartz/Si products to suppliers
  • Coordinate and support investigation of key quality defects of components from the customers and/or field service team to drive corrective actions and continuous improvement 
  • Drive the improvement of the suppliers¡¯ quality and manufacturing processes to ensure product quality, cost, and on-time-delivery
  • Audit and document supply base performance on critical process of records and overall quality management systems
  • Collaborate on the continuous development of supply base through close teamwork with product management, global product group, and supplier business managers
  • Leads, and is personally accountable for, high profile project timelines and milestones.
  • Continuously working on process improvement and developing Best Known Methods
  • Perform Standardized Supplier Quality Audits and administer Supplier Quality Scorecard for existing suppliers to promote continuous improvement.

Who We¡¯re Looking For

  • At least 10 years of working in the Semiconductor Equipment Industry, Bachelor¡¯s Degree in material, mechanical engineering from accredited university
  • Understanding on material preparation and fabrication process in Qtz/Si and ceramic parts
  • Material test design capability to support Quartz/Si material qualification in terms of analysis, interpretation and determine the needs of testing for full qualification. (e.g. GDMS, ICP-MS, SEM-EDS, surface morphology etc.)
  • Creative thinking and strong problem solving and troubleshooting capabilities, including experience in the areas of material and mechanical engineering
  • Solid understanding of statistical process control
  • In-depth understanding of equipment and component manufacturing processes
  • Experience in supplier process development & quality management
  • Understanding of failure analysis and problem solving
  • Ability to learn new skills quickly with minimal guidance
  • International & domestic travelling

Preferred Qualifications

  • Well versed in Quartz, Si and Ceramic materials
  • Materials science and engineering of Quartz and Si processes
  • Fabrication and manufacturing process control experience in Quartz and Si
  • Material analysis and characterization as well as surface analysis of Quartz and CVD SiC
  • Solid understanding of various problem solving methodologies to include 8-D/5 why
  • Project Management / Team Lead experience
  • At least 10 years of working in the Semiconductor Equipment Industry
  • Experience with working with global suppliers
  • Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Attentions to details
  • Advanced degree (including Ph.D. or Master) in material, mechanical engineering from accredited University preferred
