Job Title: Korean <-> English Translator/ Interpreter
Language on Demand, Inc. (LOD) is a government contracting firm located in Northern Virginia (United States) that offers a full range of
language translation, interpretation, bilingual staffing, and related services.
Location: Work to be performed remotely in the South Korea
Schedule: As needed on a per-project basis
Description: LOD is seeking an experienced and professionally qualified translator to provide Korean-to-English and English-to-Korean
language translation services to support VARIOUS U.S. NAVY, MARINE CORPS, ARMY AND AIR FORCE BASES AND FACILITIES
THROUGHOUT NAVFAC FAR EAST AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY.
Translator
Duties and Responsibilities:
ㆍ Provide accurate and complete Korean-to-English and English-to-Korean written translations of technical documents, contractual
documents, and legal documents.
ㆍ Provide accurate and complete back-translations of technical, contractual, and legal documents.
ㆍ Effectively self-manage translation assignments to meet deadlines and performance requirements.
ㆍ Effectively capture and convey language register and cultural nuances to the target reader of translations.
Qualifications:
ㆍ Translation expertise in technical subject areas: electrical, mechanical, and civil engineering; safety; architectural and environmental
compliance; natural and cultural resources
ㆍ Translation expertise in legal and contractual matters: utility contracts, real estate contracts, legal documents
ㆍ Minimum of 3 years of professional translation experience.
ㆍ Possess relevant professional credentials and/or educational background (linguistics, language, translation)
ㆍ Minimum Bachelor’s degree
ㆍ Professional experience using Microsoft Office (primarily Word) and Adobe (PDF)
Interpreter
Duties and Responsibilities:
ㆍ Provide in-person language interpretation (consecutive, simultaneous, escort) from English to Korean and Korean to English
ㆍ Provide telephonic/virtual interpretation between English and Korean
ㆍ Interpret and/or translate technical and legal language pertaining to contracting, engineering and design, utilities, real estate, legal documentsnand discussions, market research, land surveys, general business, etc.
ㆍ Some in-person interpretation assignments may include on-site written translation services
Qualifications:
ㆍ Possess native-level fluency in Korean (spoken and written) and fluency in English (spoken and written)
ㆍ Minimum of 3 years of professional simultaneous interpretation and translation experience
ㆍ Minimum bachelors’ degree with relevant educational background
ㆍ Possess the ability to capture and convey language register and cultural nuances to the target language reader/audience
Compensation:
