KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

l   Provides practical and forward looking legal and compliance advice in accordance with Korean law and Company¡¯s group and local policies and procedures.

l   Reviews commercial contracts (sales, procurement) and provides negotiation support to the business.

l   Provides internal training and ensures that legal and compliance activities adhere to and adequately support the policies and strategies set by Company.

l   Serves as a hands-on, pragmatic and strategic partner in business and legal decisions.

l   Reports on projects, opportunities, results, issues and concerns to the Management and business leaders of applicable Target Markets and functions.  Anticipates material legal and compliance risks and proactively advises on different options, scenarios, benefits and risks.

l   Maintains collaborative working relationship with the Head Legal Asia-Pacific and Corporate Legal Counsel.

l   Develops and maintains an expansive network with relevant stakeholders to navigate within a heavily matrixed organization, to foster collaborative decision-making and to gain consensus and alignment.

l   Provides advice with respect to assessing both legal, compliance and reputational risks arising out of contemplated transactions.

l   Handles claims with respect to customer and supplier contracts.

l   Provides significant cross-functional collaboration with operational and functional leaders on issues such as compliance, tax, finance, treasury, risk management, labor and employment, real estate, IP, IT, litigation, EHS, and communications.

l   Effectively controls utilization of outside counsel to provide cost-effective legal services and ensures quality.

l   Is an energetic team member and hands-on, ¡°can do¡± lawyer.  Promotes a collegial and collaborative culture within the organization and high levels of engagement and motivation.

l   Drives continuous improvement in the quality, delivery and cost of services to the Company.

l   Manages company legal housekeeping

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

n   Bachelor¡¯s or master¡¯s degree in law

n   Korean Bar

n   At least 3 years of experience as a generalist in-house lawyer, or reputable law firm, having experience and capabilities in relevant legal disciplines (Anti-Bribery/Anti-Corruption, Product Liability, Construction, Competition and Consumer Law, Commercial Contracts, Disputes & Litigation, Employment, Data Protection & Privacy, EH&S, etc.) relevant for a manufacturing company

n   Business fluency in English (spoken and written)

n   Ability to translate the strategic goals and objectives of the Company into legal and compliance strategies and actioned priorities

n   High level of understanding of compliance operations and delivery of compliance services in Korea
